St. Paul’s Children’s Care Centre

 

                     INTRODUCTION

 

St. Paul’s Children Care Centre is a registered non-governmental organization located at Bulbul in Ngong. The home was started in 1983. This was in response to the increasing number of street children. Jayne kabura had started Bible study group with some of the children. Due to the number of street children who were joining the study group, the children shifted from the Bible study, which were being held in Uhuru Park Nairobi town to Bulbul, near Ngong. There were 18 boys who moved with Jayne to her parent’s small farm.

The Home Bible League director then helped with the first funding for the boys. The children’s home is registered and re-established out of shear love and Empathy for the less fortunate children who roam the streets of Nairobi as parking boys and girls. Most of the children are orphans and if they have parents they are usually exposed to all forms of hardships and abuse hence the resultant immoral behaviours in the name of earning a living. The home accommodates abandoned street children who sometimes are as tender in age as few hours old; others are referred from the surrounding areas, while others are rescued directly from the streets.

St. Paul’s Children’s care centre is the oldest children’s home in the Ngong area and its environs and since it opened up its doors over 2000 street children and abandoned children have been transformed to be responsible, self reliant and visionary members in the society.

Currently, the home hosts 34 children and through well wishers and donors, we have been able to sustain them at the centre.
